Founded in 1888, the Building Congress & Exchange is Metropolitan Baltimore’s premier organization for networking, education and business development for professionals in the construction industry.
The first official meeting of the Building Congress & Exchange (BC&E) was on May 10, 1888 in the Carrollton Hotel . It was a time when Baltimore City spanned less than 15 miles, street lights ran on gas and horse drawn carts crowded the streets.
Since that first meeting of twenty-three men, BC&E has survived the Baltimore Fire of 1904, World War I and II, the Stock Market crash of 1929 and the resulting Great Depression. It is one of the oldest organizations of its kind.
The Building Congress & Exchange continues to build excitement. Since its inception, BC&E has fostered growth and excellence for professionals in all facets of the construction industry.
BC&E remains Metropolitan Baltimore’s premier organization for networking, education and business development within our industry.
Our diverse membership continues to be the strength behind the organization. We bring together general contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, developers, interior designers and building owners as well as associated professionals in finance, insurance, law and other related industries.
BC&E continues to build momentum and thrive.
“We have used our history to construct the foundation of our future. Our roots lie in what we did, but our hopes look forward.”
~Harry M. Will, BC&E Past President
