BC&E approves new Foundation Board
The Building Congress & Exchange Board approved a new BC&E Foundation board in January, headed by 2024 Foundation President Matt Verderamo.
“I’m excited about the mission and want to help drive positive change in the construction industry, specifically, the growth of the future workforce in the Baltimore area,” said Verderamo, a Consultant with Well Built Construction Consulting. “We touch a lot of groups through the Foundation’s work. We reach high school students through the Future Craftsmanship program. There is future workforce development in the SAFE Alternatives program and there are the grants that we give to different organizations that serve people from high school age up to adults who are looking to get into the trades.”
The new Foundation Board slate includes directors who were confirmed for a three-year term. They are: Courtney Mathias, President of Warwick Supply & Equipment Co.; Logan Harvey, Project Manager with Harvey Construction; and Scott Moir, Associate with GWWO Architects.
The BC&E Board Representative on the Foundation Board is Jeff Hossfield, Vice President of The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company.
The remaining members of the Foundation Board are: Curtis Dalsimer, Wohlsen Construction; Henry J. Knott IV, Henry J. Knott Masonry; John Stahl, Swirnow Building Systems; John Stup, LokTek; and Chis van Swol, The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company.
“On a nonprofit board where people are volunteering their time, you need passionate people that care about the future of the industry,” Verderamo said. “That’s the kind of people we have on this board. They want to give their time to do something good for the industry… I hope we can create more awareness among Exchange members about the work of the Foundation so members can feel really good about the organization they are part of and how it is contributing to the future of the construction industry.”
